TESTIMONIALS

Three weeks in Costa Rica by Monica S. - TripAdvisor

Reviewed: March 7th, 2020

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Jules, Glen and Raul! We had a wonderful stay
In Monkitail at Tulemar Resort. The vila is newly renovated and beautiful inside. The views of the ocean and jungle are spectacular. We enjoyed coffee on the balcony in the morning and margaritas at sunset.
Raul was very attentive our entire stay. Having delivered groceries before our arrival, at our request. He was also very helpful in arranging transportation whenever needed. In addition to that he had fresh fruit and drinks waiting for us upon arrival. He personally delivered a balloon and a fresh flower for Valentine’s Day. We also celebrated our wedding anniversary there and he surprised us with a cake! He makes sure he is there for you from check in to check out. He also helped us with many dinner recommendations and reservations. We so enjoyed him checking in on us and our (almost daily) chats. We miss him all ready!!
In addition to the wonderful accommodations we enjoyed the abundant wildlife. We saw a kinkajou two different mornings from the balcony. Also took pictures of a bird
Raul helped us identify called a painted bunting. Not common in that area of Costa Rica.
Tulemar beach is beautiful and relaxing. It was hot and sunny the whole time we were there.
The entire staff at Tulemar are all exceptional, from reception, to cafe, Victoria

Elephant Castle by Justin - Airbnb

Absolutely phenomenal in every way. The home is perfectly located right before the park. The view is perfect. Raul, who is Ali's assistant is totally incredible. I told Raul I want to do something special for my partner before we left and Raul thoughtfully arranged for flowers, champagne, and a fruit basket. On short notice he also helped arrange a private shuttle to airport for us. Dude was super thoughtful. The team downstairs who run the restaurant clearly take a lot of pride in their work and hospitality. Even though they get busy in the restaurant they were never too busy to see if we needed anything. This was a perfect experience. Will be back for sure.

Raul was great and easy to work with. Went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The place is brand new and spacious. Secure parking if you have a car. Grocery store right down the street to stock up. Easy to get to restaurants from the apartment. Easy drive to the beach.

LOOK NO FURTHER! If you are considering a trip to Costa Rica, specifically the Manuel Antonio area, you MUST stay at Monkitail in Tulemar Resort. The villa has the most amazing views of the local flora and Tulemar’s private beach. Inside the villa, the space feels much larger than it is due to spectacular design, modern decor, open flow concept as to minimize obstruction of views, and luxury amenities. The whole villa is glass paned which almost gives you 360 degree views of the outside. Absolutely breath taking. There are shades that can be drawn electronically but most of the time we didn’t dare cover the views! The kitchen is low profile, modern, and is spaced efficiently to again, not take away from the priceless views surrounding the property. The villa has two queen beds and a super modern bathroom which includes a walk in shower with massive ceiling shower head. Super cool. Super innovative. Loved it! There is daily house keeping at the villa and everyday we would come back to a spotless unit with everything replenished! The resort staff and the locals in general were all so helpful and kind. Aside from the epic visuals of Monkitail, if you love animals, you have come to the right place! The resort shares its land with a perserve that is teeming with fauna (think: sloths, capuchins, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, toucans, macaws, kinkajous, and the list goes on and on) so you quite literally are surrounded by wildlife everywhere you go on the presmise. There is also a sloth sanctuary located on the property that serves as a local rehabilitation center for injured sloths. Once the sloths are rehabbed they are released onto the property so they can be tracked and the sloth institute team can keep tabs on their progression. SWOON! They offer a walking tour to guests at Tulemar for $18 a person and honestly, it was the best money spent there, especially if you love sloths and want to see as many as you can in the wild. Speaking of tours, there is SO much to do on the property and surrounding area. We did an ATV tour, checked out Manuel Antonio beach/park, did a hike at Rainmaker Preserve, and all can be scheduled with your Monkitail concierge named Raul. He is awesome! Anything you want or need, Raul will come through for you. He is energetic, kind, thoughtful, and gives his honest opinion when you ask him things, such as, what tours to take or places to eat. Great consierge! Now let’s talk food. We have been to CR many times and depending on the locations, the food can be something left to be desired. Not here in Manuel Antonio! Everything we had during our stay was delicious. Raul can help you pick out great restaurants but the ones he suggested to us were all amazing. We enjoyed Cafe Milagro, Emilio Cafe, Aqua Azul, and if you like pizza (who doesn’t?) try El Wagon. The resort itself also has a great restaurant on the property with killer specialty drinks and yummy local, and also more Americanized, fare. A must try for sure as the views are great too. The villa gives you access to not only the main resort pool but the villa has its own semi private pool just below it that really is so tranquil and “natural” feeling. Almost like a spring pool at the bottom of a mountain, super calming and relaxing...just what you need after a long day of outdoor activities! Tulemar also has a private beach that makes you feel like you are on a deserted island but with the luxury of service personnel (is that an oxymoron? Lol, not here!). Whether you want to soak up some rays, take some amazing selfies by the crashing waves, or feast on a delicious lunch with cocktails by the water, this cozy beach offers it all. Definitely a must see. For the more adventurous folk, there are two trails on the property that take you off the beaten path and that lead to the beach. These were awesome, but best to take them with shoes so pack your sandals in your beach bag and save them for when you hit the sand! I could probably go on another few pages about how amazing Monkitail was and how grateful we are to have found this property during our CR vacation search. We are avid travelers so believe me when I say Monkitail MUST be put on the top of your vacation destination wish list. You will not be disappointed! But please be forewarned: upon their return home, guests have reported experiencing symptoms of increased happiness, feeling refreshed mentally, a sense of overall well being, and an alarming expansion of general gratitude. :) Pura Vida!

Great Location and Beautiful Villa! by Travelwithboys2 - TripAdvisor

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for the 4 nights we were in Manuel Antonio. It was nice for our kids to have a separate bedroom and bathroom from my husband and I. The villa is clean, spacious and well-equipped. We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the surfers and seeing all of the people walking by and just enjoying the view in general. There was never any noise late at night as everything pretty much closes by 9-10pm. We enjoyed several meals and many drinks downstairs at Baldi's. Jonathon and Ronnie who work at Baldi's were always super-friendly. It was so convenient to be able to walk to get groceries, go shopping, eat and get to the national park. Raul, the concierge for this accommodation, was very quick to respond to any requests or questions we had. If we come back to Manuel Antonio, we would definitely stay here again. Pure Vida

Better than I Imagined! by Trister - TripAdvisor

My family of 4 really had a wonderful time staying at this property. The unit was very comfortable. Lovely linens, comfortable beds, spacious and well laid out.
It is literally right across the street from the beach! My husband and son would walk across the street every morning for surf lessons while I watched from the comfort of the balcony! We would reserve beach chairs for the whole day and we would come and go from across the street. We loved eating at the restaurant right downstairs.
Raul was terrific about being available to answer questions and help us out if we needed it!
It was such a luxurious taste of beach front living. I can’t wait to go back!

The place is way more spacious than what the pictures show. Raul is super friendly and very good at giving us recommendations. Location is superb, and the restaurant below has some great food and service. The view is gorgeous and it is literally 10 steps from the ocean.

House has thoughtful touches that make the experience so much better. If you want to stay in Manuel Antonio, them you must pick the elephant castle.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Monkytail in the beautiful Tulemar resort. The view from the wrap around windows in breathtaking and we loved watching the monkeys, hummingbirds and iguanas that visited daily. The apartment is beautifully furnished and the beds are so comfy. We went on the sloth walk onsite on our first morning the guide was excellent and we were able to see one of the amazing creatures close up. The pools and grounds of the resort are beautiful kept and the beach is perfect. Raul was an excellent concierge and checked in on us daily. I hope we can come back one day.
